about

The four songs collected on 'teaparty' herald the second investigation into the shadows by Jem Fanvu (Vacant Gardens, tUnE-yArDs, Jean Marie) and Jon Pitt (Chinatown Bakeries, Up & Up, vawes). The pair formed Minor Ghosts Band in late 2019 with two guiding principles to give songs life: 1) electric guitars and 2) no drums.

While Fanvu and Pitt have been playing music together off and on for years, having met in the folk nadir of mid-aughts San Francisco, Minor Ghosts Band finds the two sharing songwriting duties for the first time—in a hot, dusty outpost where all that glitters is gloom.

'teaparty' continues the fuzzed-out uncertainty of the times, an anxious ache that persists behind the golden rays of the golden state. Surf's up, but beware the undertow. Some California dreams can't help but be California nightmares.
